From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
